There are three steps to looking things up in The BIG Rescue — finding the book, the chapter and the verse. Each book has a title, for example, “Mark”. Each book also has large bold chapter numbers in the margins. Some of the sentences in each chapter have small numbers in front of some of the words. These are called the verse numbers. Having book names, chapter and verse numbers allows a single sentence or passage to be quickly looked up in any Bible. It’s like a street map. Someone can give you a book name, chapter number and verse number and you can find it in the Bible. This is called a reference.
