Peru is found in the top half of South America on the coast. Because there are so many people living in Peru the families tend to be very poor, and some children only eat one meal a day. The Bible Society and the churches have got together and started a breakfast program. It's called the 'Bread of Life'.

Alvaro and his sister go 5 days a week to the program. They receive some bread and milk to help them grow healthy and strong and they also hear about God's love. 
They hear stories from the Bible and sing songs. Each child is also given some Scripture to take home. Hundreds of children are now eating one more meal a day and learning more about God's word. In 1999 the children of Australia raised $83,665.17 to help provide Bibles for the children in Peru.
